I thought I had installed the java plugin when I installed Sun Java (see previous post on 64-bit). I found out I didn’t when I went to a page with a java applet that I didn’t have a working plugin.
A variety of information from various points in time can be found by performing a Google search, but I found a simple solution. It turns out that there is a Blackdown java plugin (1.4.2.02) in the multiverse repository. This looked like it might conflict with Sun’s java 6. I went ahead and installed the plugin and found that /usr/bin/java points to Sun’s Java 6. The plugin uses the 1.4.2.02 and there is no conflict.
